- Editor's Notes
- Taking into consideration that you and I were once engaged side by side in the telegraph business in Cincinnati in 1863 and 1864, could you spare the time to give me a small slice of the knowledge you have been storing up and adding to since the time you took the old repeater apart in that city so I may progress in the same way you have done, only on a somewhat more limited scale? ##I am farming and desire to have a light in my barn that can be lit by turning a button or knob in the house (horse thieves are numerous here) so I can have a light to see what's going on before I get there. Have you yourself or anyone else invented or brought into use a light that can be sustained by a battery only? I suppose it would be called a static power. ##Please answer yourself if you can, if not have your assistant do so or refer me to some source where the information can be had.
