Title
[D8625333], Letter from Compagnie Continentale Edison, Louis Rau to Drexel Harjes & Co, March 8th, 1886
Editor's Notes
[Letter handwritten French. Marked as enclosure, likely to D8625222.] Attached is a letter from the Societie Edison of [?] re: prolonging the Italian patents; you will see that the Italian society, like us, wants to do everything it can to protect TAE's interests and those of the American light company; but the guarantee the Italian Society wants us to make is of such importance that we consulted with all the most competent advisors who determined it was impossible to foresee the consequences of a demand to prolong the patent under those circumstances; we ask that you give the necessary orders to prolong the patents in Italy, namely series 3, 4 & 5, with these conditions: 1) You guarantee to pick up supplemental expenses; 2) You will write TAE and get him to send instructions to Mr. Luchini in Rome for our patent agents in Turin who will appear before the patent office of the Italian government.
