- For a long time Hammer has expected me to ask you about compensating him since he claims Phillips bringing us the wire business was due entirely to his interposition, which he can show by a letter he has; he was led to understand he would be rewarded by someone if the deal led to a profit; I know nothing about it except what he says, but if he is right likely the machine works and Phillips should do something for him; you must be the judge.
