- Editor's Notes
- [Letterhead: The Palmer, Chicago] Just wrote Gilliland telling him how I propose to publicize the phonograph; on receipt of a phonograph in Orville (Calif.), I will "read an Associated Press dispatch to the effect that Maj. McLaughlin has received one of the newly perfected Phonographs from his friend Prof. T.A. Edison"; a press reception will follow at the Palace Hotel, S.F.; after working the press, will go for the public with an exhibition in S.F. as you and I outlined last Saturday night; this is necessary before the novelty is worn off by news from the East; have strongly urged Gilliland to send me a phonograph ASAP; please urge him to do so.###Send me an autograph letter on what you are doing re: ore assaying with your department of your new lab; will place information in S.F. Examiner article; it will aid your ore milling enterprise and help me to create a phonograph boom on the Pacific Coast.
