- Title
- [D8704AFT], Letter from Frederick Joseph Bramwell to Thomas Alva Edison, December 16th, 1887
- Editor's Notes
- On the 2nd ult. I telegraphed you as follows: "Edison. New York. Will he assist Bramwell in Lecture Royal Institution on Edison's latest electrical improvements. Reply to Wellbram. London--Paid--"###Your reply: "Will provide data and apparatus. Write fully. Edison."###Thanks for your acquiescence. I seem to have misunderstood what you meant by "write," thinking that you would write, but not having heard from you I now understand what you intended.###As you have gathered, I propose, with your help, to deliver a Friday lecture at the Royal Institution at the coming session about "such of your latest most interesting discoveries as you are willing should be communicated publicly, and such as you could enable me to illustrate in an interesting manner by means of actual apparatus"###Haven't had the pleasure of seeing you in London and can't recall if you've been here. If you have, you will know the Royal Institution is the leading institution in England--Young, Humphrey Davy, Faraday, Tyndall, and now Lord Rayleigh have filled the professorial chairs. Please send the data and apparatus mentioned in your telegram. [See D8704AEG]
