- Editor's Notes
- I wrote an article on you for a Danish paper, taking information from the book Edison and his Inventions; I said that when you were 12, you became a train boy and started a paper called The Grand Trunk Herald; I noted that George Stephenson, the famous engineer, saw the paper and ordered a new edition for his use; a Danish gentleman wrote to say that Stephenson could not have seen the paper because he died in 1848, nor could his son have seen it because he died in Oct. 1859; which of them was it? [TAE Marg.L "It was the son or grandson of Geo Stephenson, The one that built the Victoria Tubular Grand Trunk Railway, I think his name was Robert Stephenson. He could not have died in 1859 but may have died after 1862 or 3--Yours Edison"]. [TAE is wrong on this; Robert Stephenson died Oct. 12, 1859].
