Title
[D8713AAT], Letter from E J Beire to Thomas Alva Edison, October 16th, 1887
Editor's Notes
Saw in the paper that you plan a new factory and thought you might be able to use a "first class Cabinet maker" like me; am familiar with woodworking in all its branches; am very good at pattern making and also at the lathe; "in fact am a man possessed of Genius, which I can show by different models of Machinery I have made"; have "got up" several patents and am working on one now for the piano business; have charge of a large factory in N.Y. but would like to get into the electric light business. "In the Piano Business there is but very little to be improved on, and after you get through it is always a Piano. While in the Electric light Business or the application of Electricity in general there is an unlimited field for Genius." [TAE Marg.: "Johnny Write & say Laboratory not ready but he might call on us about Nov 20 & possibly I may do something E."]
