- TAE responding to letter of the january 16, 1887. It reached New York during TAE's absence in Florida, where he was recuperating from a sevre illness. TAE notes that it was only within the past month that he has gotten back to regular work in his lab. TAE thanks Powers for the photograph of himself. TAE enclosed autographs, which Powers had requested for his brother-in-law. TAE apologizes that he has too much work to contemplate a trip to Italy for some time.
