- Sends with the letter samples of the Lechugilla fiber extracted by boiling in water, and will send today separately fifteen to twenty thousand fibers extracted by the same method. If Edison finds them satisfactory Payne will start for Cahuila immediately and arrange for a regular supply. The remainder of the three page letter details means for separating the fibers from said plant and the expenses incurred during Payne's travels in Mexico in search of plants to supply Edison with fibers.
