Title
[D8732ABO], Letter from John H Vail to Edison Machine Works, November 10th, 1887
Editor's Notes
"We are in receipt of your favor regarding the matter of creosoted planking. ## We find that the quantity mentioned in Schedule 'B' is more than we can possibly use this season. ## We insist upon countermanding the order for the planking, which we do not require, and we will also state that the planking is only to be delivered in such quantities as we actually require, for the work to be paid for as the quantities are delivered. ## This planking is an article which is regularly used in connection with the laying of underground systems, and you can therefore very easily apply the surplus amount which you have on hand to the laying of the other systems upon which you are now at work. ## We therefore ask that you will accommodate us in this matter and we will advise you as fast as the planking is required for the paying of conductors and will use whatever proportion is necessary."
