- [D8756ACZ], Letter from Ferracute Machine Co, Oberlin Smith to Thomas Alva Edison, October 6th, 1887
- Editor's Notes
- [Letterhead: Ferracute Machine Co.] "I see by the newspapers that you are fitting up a private laboratory at Menlo Park with a full supply of accurate machine tools and other apparatus. You of course want the best modern designs and it occurs to me that one of our smaller punching presses, as shown upon the enclosed list 9, would be a useful companion to your other tools. If you can use such a machine I shall be glad to have one fitted up to suit any dies that you may have on hand or with any particular style of fastening which you may prefer for new dies, without extra charge." [Marginalia: "we have no use for pp in the place]
