Title

[D8814ACO], Letter from O Tauchert to Thomas Alva Edison, May 24th, 1888

Editor's Notes

I am in receipt of your esteemed letter of the 23 inst, and note with pleasure, the prospects of employment it holds out to me. # In a foot note contained therein, you ask me the question, "What experience have you had as an accountant?" In reply thereto, permit me to say, that during the last fourteen years, I have been in the employ of three Dry Goods Importing Houses in New York City, filling the positions of Assistant Bookkeeper, Bookkeeper, and during the last two years, the position of Office and Financial Manager with the firm of Hugo Meyer & Co, 42 to 50 Greene Str. I trust these premises will furnish you sufficient material for the forming of an opinion, as regards my ability and integrity. # Being for the time financially almost ground to wood-pulp, I should have preferred of course immediate employment, no matter in what capacity; but I have to submit to the inevitable and try to fill out the intervening time by temporary employment. At foot please find the names of the other two firms I have been employed by.
