- Editor's Notes
- Birkinbine showed me your letter saying you thought my terms too high, so I will modify my first proposition as follows. I will come to your lab and [---] the end of the week if you do not think my services are worth what I ask, I do not want you to pay it to me. I do not want you to pay me more than you think I am worth to you and think this question could best be settled by an actual trial. I visited your lab in company with Birkinbine yesterday and regret exceedingly that I did not have an opportunity of seeing you personally. Hoping to hear from you again on this subject. [TAE marg: "Say that I don't doubt a good chemist is worth the amount asked but at present time [it is that I? that cannot afford to pay salary asked or near that. The work I have in hand will not permit it. E"]
