Abstract

I enclose herewith my son's application. I think in presenting it to TAE and asking for his favorable consideration it would be proper also to mention the fact that my boys hearing is somewhat impaired "about the same as mine is" as TAE himself remarked when he talked with him in July 1887. Though I think his hearing has greatly improved during the past year from the treatment he has been receiving. # Will you please also recall to TAE's memory the recommendations heretofore submitted by the sons of the late Col Lefferts in behalf of my son. To become an electrical engineer and work has been the aim of his life for five years and I need not say that he is very anxious to begin his work. TAE marg: ": Say I will take him as an apprentice 1st year 100 dollars 2nd 250 dollars after that pay what he is worth"
