Title
[D8818AOA], Letter from Charles Batchelor to Manning Maxwell and Moore, June 29th, 1888
Editor's Notes
re your letter June 28th signed "Brotherhood" would say that the precision lathes we now have have two countershafts. The one supplied with the lathe is screwed against the wall. We want this countershaft made so that it will screw against the ceiling; like any other ordinary countershaft. Then we require the dimensions and speed of the pulleys on it so that we can order our main line pulleys. The precision lathes we have had intermediate countershafts, but I think them quite unnecessary for the lathes you will supply us. The word 'steel' in our previous letter was evidently a mistake, and should have been 'ceiling.' Please give us the sizes and speeds immediately.
