Title
[D8818APM], Letter from Edison Phonograph Works, Charles Batchelor to Dwight Slate Machine Co, July 18th, 1888
Editor's Notes
References a letter of July 17th to which he is responding. Expresses confusion over "the size of pulleys on driving shaft for precision lathes." Quotes from the received letter: 'Your main shaft running 200 with driving pulleys, respectively, 4 and 8 inches on a 3 1/2 inch driving pulley on counter leading to lathe will give to the lathe spindle 50 revolutions per minute forward and 200 backward.' Asks for verification of the size of the "pulley on the lathe" so that he can "order my main line shafting pulleys."
