Title
[D8818ARB], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Thomas Alva Edison, August 10th, 1888
Editor's Notes
New name mentions: Stone and O'Brien. Pertains to the proposed contract between Spanish Colonial Light Co and Havana Electric Light Co. References "attached letter from Stone." TAE was unable to sign contract because of illness, and O'Brien requested that someone else sign for TAE (not agreed to by Tate), who hasn't read the document. Tate asks TAE to read and sign it "if it meets with your approval," although the contract is not ideal. Then specifies that "the last clause of this contract provides that we shall give the Havana Electric Light Co. the same rights as we are now giving them for any other towns in the Island of Cuba where they may obtain exclusive licenses. This is all right, because if they get the exclusive licenses we would be shut out any way, and if they do not get the exclusive licenses they get no rights from us."
