- Editor's Notes
- I desire to disperse of the use of bi-chromate of [---] in connection with phonoplex batteries and substitute a Chromic acid battery battery. This latter is [---] of the following proportions; 7 1/2 lbs Chromic acid, 13 lbs Sulphuric acid and [---] gallons of water. This will make six gallons of the mixture. The Sulphuric acid and water are mixed and in one half hour the Chromic acid is added. You must be very careful to have your [---] well amalgamated. They should be flooded with mercury and amalgamated every time it is used. The outside solution should be; 8 lbs Sulphuric acid mixed with five gallons of water. Chromic acid is now obtained by a new process and can be procured by Lehn & Firk of N.Y. for about 12 cents per pound. It is cheaper than bi-chromate and the battery will last twice as long if care is taken to amalgamate the [---]/zinc well?
