Title
[D8818AUG], Letter from Edison Phonoplex System, Alfred Ord Tate to Kansas City Ft Scott and Memphis Railroad, Henry Clay Sprague, October 2nd, 1888
Editor's Notes
Owing to my absence in Canada your letter 12th remained unanswered. I consulted TAE re royalty in connection with quadruplex circuits and we decided to reduce our quadruplex and duplex circuits to conform with the amount we charge for simple Morse lines--that is $100 per year. # I cannot tell from your letter whether there is anything else in the contract to which you object. If there is, I would like you to specify what it is. It was drawn with the idea of protecting TAE without interfering with the rights of the Companies using the system. Those who already signed consider it very fair, inasmuch as they have only to pay for phonoplex circuits so long as they are in actual use. I shall be glad to hear from you further.
