- Editor's Notes
- [written from Palatka, FL] "I have the most elegant pharmacy, right opposite the Putnam Home, where you have an small occasions stopped. I take liberty to ask you if you will kindly inform me how I can light up my store that is can I produce an electric light (One, two, or three) without a border but by only using a battery? I feel very backward to ask you and to occupy your busy mind. If you can give me the name of a work or look regarding the matter, I shall ever feel thankful to you. I made this as short as possible but hope to thank you in person someday if you take the trouble of noticing this." Yours very humble servant, Rudolf Kersting [Marginalia: "The battery method is a poor and expensive one. I thought there was an arc light co in P. They might supply you with small Lamps from their wires" E]
