"Your favor of the 21st inst. was just received, having been forwarded to the Sagamore, after I had left, and thence returned to our New York office. ### I beg to express my deep regret that I should have misinterpreted your object in writing to me for the information desired, and to extend my thanks, also, for your kindness. ### Mayor Hewitt seems not to favor the use of electricity for the destruction of the dogs at the pound and I have therefore abandoned that method for the one employed by the Pennsylvania Society P.C.A.--carbonic oxyd gas, and which he seems inclined to adopt. ### With assurances of my high regard, I am"
