Editor's Notes
"I send you herewith a letter from my friend Mr. Jackson Shute, now in Brazil, referring to a substance from which it is claimed superior filments may be made; also samples of the same substance. If an examination of this substance leads you to think that there may be something in it I shall be pleased to forward to Mr. Shute any communication you may desire to make him. ### Mr. Shute has made four or five trips to Brazil in electrical interests, for the Tropical American Telephone Co. and the Thomsen-Houston Electric Light Co. among others and is well acquanited with different parts of the country and with the leading men, having spent several years in the Amazon district and in the neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Minas, &c, as well as in the River Plate country. He is therefore well placed and could bring to a successful conclusion any business you might attempt through him. ### Kindly return to me his letter after perusal."
