Title
[D8835AFB], Letter from David Trumbull Marshall, Thomas Alva Edison to Samuel Insull, December 19th, 1888
Editor's Notes
"Referring to your note to Mr. Edison, of Dec. 19. I sent you Nov. 21, 30 lbs of insulating material (No 326) that was meant to be melted + soaked in to the cotton covering of the wire. ### Recd letter about Dec. 12 saying the above was all right except that it would not become fluid enough to soak into cotton. ### Before receiving letter of Dec. 12 I sent you 50 lbs of a material similar to No. 326. Nov. 28 I sent 160 lbs of lamps of a material containing rubber. ### This material was not supposed to be melted but to be masticated + squirted on wire your note of Dec. 19 evidently referred to this. If it is worthless you have been a long which is letting us know. ### I have a compound now that melts to [unclear] and will send you some as soon as possible." T.A.E. by D.T. Marshall
