"The Markham House Co of Atlanta Ga have just concluded a contract with your estimable and very business like agent Mr Slattery. Of five bids his was the highest but one, and wa accepted under the [unclear] that you are headquarters in this business and that your name would be a safe guarantee for the plant. Hoping some time to have the pleasure of your personal acquantaince and with high regards" Yours truly, RD Spalding for Markham House Co. [Marginalia: "Write and say that he has made no mistake and that if any improvements can be made in future in giving more light out of same plant that our customers are going to get benefit of it. Also that Slatterly is one of the boys and we have faith in him at the Laboratory. Thank him for very kind [unclear] E"
