Title
[D8836AAV], Letter from Paine and Francis to Thomas Alva Edison, June 16th, 1888
Editor's Notes
"We have recently closed a contract with the Holyoke Envelope Co., and to-day received from them a letter stating they desired to consult you on certain important matters and enclosing in their letter a sealed envelope which we send by same mail. They sent this to us as they did not know your address, and asked us to forward it. If it concerns any matter in regard to lighting we would suggest that we may be allowed to state to you before you answer, what we have said on the matter, so, that there may be no contradiction as it is possible they may present the question in such a way as not to show its true meaning." Yours very truly, Paine & Francis [Marginalia: "Ans. June 9/88"] [Marginalia: "Write to P + F that it don't refer to Lighting at all"]
