- "The Working of the Financial year which has just closed has been satisfactory, but as arrangements cannot be completed so as to admit of the General Meeting of Shareholders being held within the next few days after which so many Shareholders will have left London, I am instructed to inform you that the General Meeting will be held early in October. Notice of the day and how will be sent to you in due course. ### You are probably aware, that in the recent suit of the Company V. Holland the Cheeseborough Patent was upheld, but that Mr. Edison's Patent of November 1879 was held to be invalid. ### I am instructed to inform you that after consultation will their legal advisers, the Director's have appealed against the decision on Edison's Patent and they are informed that the appeal will probably be heard before Christmas, I am Dear Sir," Your obedient servant, S.
