- "The writers and proprieters of the "Scientific American" referred to you as the inventor of a machine for separating gold from sand that contains more or less gold and [unclear] they believe you had some machine or process for such a purpose. A correspondent of ours in New Zealand wishes to learn of such a machine or process and purchase the sme if satisfactory results can be obtained. A sample of the same can be supplied you but in the meantime we would be pleased to have a reply to this inquiry. ### If you have a machine or process has it become of practical use and where is it used?"
