Title
[D8847ADB], Letter from Franck Zeveley Maguire to Alfred Ord Tate, October 31st, 1888
Editor's Notes
"I enclose copy of Washington Capitol of Sunday last which you see still keeps [unclear] of Graphophone. The other stock it picks at is the merchant [unclear] exploited and run by the same parties as the Graphophone. It has been another stock jobbing scheme. My reason for writing and enclosing paper is that I am of the opinion that the edition of the "Capital" ought to know that you folks appreciate what he is doing. Mr. Gilliland authorized me to say to him long ago that he should have a machine and to place Mr. Edison and his name on subscription list of that paper. I would like to have Mr. Edison Mr. Edison's name on the list and I think it would be well to do something in some way to show we appreciate him for he may be of the greatest value with his paper (which is a good one and widely read) in fighting down the graphophone at its home office. Your early answer will oblige as I want to write to Mr. Hudson the [unclear]" Yours very truly, F.Z. Maguire
