Editor's Notes
"Cast zinc plate is smaller than standard size; shrinkage probably. This does not matter at present. It makes the rod somewhat shorter and that is important if plates are to go into standard meter. Distance from bottom of plate to top of rod is 5 5/16" exactly. It will be well to observe this before making any large quantity of plates. Very truly, Charles Wirt "When foot is made 1/8", 3/8 must be added to top of rod."
