Title
[D8856ADN], Letter from John Hall McClement to Alfred Ord Tate, October 29th, 1888
Editor's Notes
"In talking with a friend of mine this morning of the Lehigh & Wilkes-Barre Coal Company & the Central Road of New Jersey, he informs me that the Company was requested to make a bid to supply the Laboratory with coal, which they did, but received no acknowledgement. ### Mr. Edward D. Adams of the firm of Winslow, Lenier & Co. also wrote Mr. Edison, or some one engaged in the business, a personal letter and received no reply. Mr. Adams is the next largest investor in the Edison busienss to Mr. J.P. Morgan; and the Jersey Central Railroad Company has also been a friend to the Edison interests and has recently installed a large Edison Plant in their depot at Jersey City. Under these circumstances they feel that their treatment has not been courteous. I presume the whole matter will solve itself into either a mistake or a misunderstanding. ### I wish you would endeavor to see that Mr. Adams letter is replied to, and other things being equal, proper consideration be given them in regard to furnishing coal." Yours very truly, John H. McClement Comptroller/. [Marginalia: Ans Nov 2/88"]
