Friend Tate I saw by a [---?] your paper yesterday that Mr. Edison had had an accident by which his eyes were seriously injured. Will you kindly let me know how serious it was and tell Mr. Edison how sorry I am for his misfortune. My admiiration for Edison the Inventor is completely eclipsed by my appreciation of him as a prince of fine fellows and hope more than I can tell that no permanent trouble has come to him.
