Title
[D8905ACR], Letter from George C Sonn to Thomas Alva Edison, April 9th, 1889
Editor's Notes
Geo. C. Sonn Newark High School April 9th 1889 Hn. Thos. A Edison Laboratory Orange Sir:-- May I ask the privilege of visiting the laboratory some afternoon or evening in the near furutre with my class in Physics? This is the class that has resolved itself into a science circle which bears your name, & has received from you a letter of encouragement. The nubmers are from 15 to 17 years of age. Our former graduates are more or less intimately associated with the development of the Edison Lamp & Telephone. I might mention Jas. Seymour, who went abroad for you with the telephone, [Gno?] Waters who went to Chili, with the light, the two Hammers; and others who, of course, are unknown to you personally because they have occupied subordinate positions. I mention so much, because I wish to present to you the feeling of our school toward everything with which your honored name has been associated. We shall appreciate very highly a permission to visit your laboratory. As I have personally enjoyed the privilege on several occasions, with the Electrical Society, with Hammer, etc/. I can assure you that it is for instruction and not for idle curiosity that our request is forwarded. Very truly your servant, Geo. C Sonn [Name Mentions: George C. Sonn Those Edison James Seymour West Orange Laboratory Geo Waterse Hammer Electrical Society ]
