- Editor's Notes
- I had the pleasure of being introduced to you last [?] when I was visiting my daughter Mrs. James D. Watson, in Orange. Presuming on this brief acquaintance, will you allow me to call your attention to the enclosed letter--patent lately awarded me, which may perhaps interest you as a means of utilizing the [currents of rivers & estuaries?] for producing electricity? Please understand that I do not ask for your judgment of the device--nor for even a reply to this note unless you have the lesirue to acknowledge it. Not that I should not highly value your opinion; but that I know how busy you are. The following extract from a newspaper may or may not be [true?] My device, howevver, you will see is designed to meet Mr. Barr's projector scheme. Very faithfully yours D.G Haskins [The newspaper clipping deals with a scheme by scientists and capitalists in Canada to utilize the Lachine Rapids in the St. Lawrence for electricity. A similar bill embodying this scheme was recently defeated in the Canadian parliament. Dr. Barr presented a revised bill, after going over the plan with Edison and receiving a favorable response.] [Name Mentions: Thos Edison Re.
