Title
[D8905AFF], Letter from Richard Everard Webster to Thomas Alva Edison, August 19th, 1889
Editor's Notes
Dear sir, ## I see by the papers that you are in Paris, but regret to find that you will not visit London, so that I have no chance of achieving one of the greatest wishes of my life viz an interview with you--I learned with regret that the phonogram which at Colonel Gouraud's kind invitation I dictated to you was broken in transit, but I am proud to think that a prophecy contained in it viz that I should be able to restore to you the honors temporarily lost in connection with the incandescent lamps has since I spoke become history--those of the cases in which I havve been associated with inventions has even given me so much pleasure-- ## I trust that some day I may be permitted to see you but whether I have that good fortune or not I can assure you of very deep respect and admiration and that it is my earnest hope that you may long be spared to add to the long list of discoveries and inventions with which you have enriched the science of the world. ##
