MilanO Oct 15th 89 Mr. Thomas A. Edison Orange N.J Respected & dear Sir:-- In acknowledging your timely remittance just read, to cover the subscription of over a year ago of $250 towards a new [bench?] of this place, it is my blessed task to remind you of the lingering joy of a grateful people towards a former generosity of your own, THO its BEAUTY is now a thing only of memory. One of the first ones to whom it was my privilege to show your check was your own gentle Aunt. [new?] Thomas Edison, who stood near me as I lifted your letter from the office. If report is truth WE can join hearts with the poor of Paris in offerings of gratitude for a cosmpopolitan generosity. I trust you may be led to feel many times the tuth of His words who said if is more blessed to give t an to receive."
