Title

[D8907AAC], Letter from Thomas Kirwan, Boston Herald to Thomas Alva Edison, January 12th, 1889

Editor's Notes

I send you by today's mail an advance copy of a popular work on electricity -- Modern Electricity. In it you will find that I have given you a good representation, both as regard your light, thermoelectricity, and the phonograph to which latter I devote sixteen pages. # Now I have a favor to ask of you, or rather two--one to read the book, and the other if you approve of it, to write me a few words of approval that I can print on the top of the cover. A word from you would exert a great influence in the sale of the book, which has been completed at great labor, and (to a poor newspaper man) considerable expense. I need not, I suppose, recall my identity as the individual who took from you that famous interview in [---]am[--]y [-]alk, NY some seven or eight years ago. Hoping that in the goodness of your heart you will -- if you find the subject worthy -- give this little book a few works of commendation.
