Title
[D8907AAK], Letter from R G Du Bois to Thomas Alva Edison, February 21st, 1889
Editor's Notes
I have been requested by the publishers of "Youth's Companion" to prepare an article upon "Boy Inventors," and you would confer a great favor upon the author by stating how old you were when you first commenced inventing, when your first application for a patent was filed, and what the invention was.##It is the purpose of the author to prepare an article wich will encourage our American youth to exercise their ingenuity in the various modern arts and sciences, and in order to do this we wish to cite as examples, those young men who have become famous as successful inventors.##A similar request has been made to Alexander Graham Bell, George Westinghouse, and others, and it is hoped that you will kindly respond.##You probably know that the Youth's Companion has a circulation of 250,000 weekly.
