- [D8907ADB], Letter from Graphic (London), T Heath Joyce to Thomas Alva Edison, December 10th, 1889
- Editor's Notes
- In answer to a request from Mr. W. I Thomas our managing Director you promised to write occasionally a signed letter or article for the Daily Graphic. As I have been appointed in charge off the literary department I am now writing to say that we are anxious to have a signed contribution from your pen in one of the early numbers in January. ## I should like to suggest as a subject- “The future of Electric Lighting”- should this however not be agreeable to you we would like you to choose another subject more congenial. We should only however desire that the article or letter, should as far as possible bear on a topic of the day, as many people imagine that, owing to the [?] of illustration our weak point will be in the possibility that we shall be behind the ordinary papers in the matter of news and this [?] hardly say we are anxious to disprove. ## The article should be about two columns in length, say 2600 words. Judging from the reception by the public of our preliminary number I think I can promise you a large audience.
