- Editor's Notes
- [Add name mentions: Henry Villard, Jesse H. Lippincott, John F. Randolph] Enclose you a letter which I obtained from Eaton this morning as well as the substance of Mr. Edison's obligation as to filling Gouraud's orders. Believe Mr. Edison should send a cable and a letter as Eaton outlines. There should be no doubt as to Mr. Edison's intentions. It is necessary for Mr. Edison to notify Mr. Gouraud that he is ready to fulfill the clause of the contract. A year from now the interests involved may be enormous. A letter which is absolutely clear and without question will then be an advantage should we find it necessary to abrogate Mr. Gouraud's rights under his contracts. Please get Mr. Edison to get the cable and the letter off immediately if he agrees. Will be in Schenectady tomorrow and Wednesay. All formal papers in reference to the Villard deal were signed today. Presume you got my telegram today stating that I obtained $25,000 from Lippincott on account of Phonograph Works. Sent check to Randolph with deposit instructions.
