Title

[D8933AAU], Letter from Edison Electric Light Co, Frank Seymour Hastings to Thomas Alva Edison, March 8th, 1889

Editor's Notes

My dear Mr. Edison:-- The Superintendent of States Prisons has asked Mr. Brown to make some experiments for him at the expense of the State, next Tuesday, the 12th inst. I have been trying for the past week to buy, borrow or steal a Westinghouse dynamo but have been unsuccessful. I am afraid therefore that we shall have to trespass again upon your good nature, but the question is whether it would be possible to rewind your Siemens alternating dynamo so that we can get at least 1000 volts? We will of course pay any expense connected with the rewinding of the dynamo but I would like very much to know by telephone tomorrow whether it can be done without causing anyone serious inconvenience? Yours very sincerely, F.S Hastings, Secty & Treas. Could we get the necessary E.M.F. by "speeding up"? F.S.H. <TAE marg: ans by Telephone Mch 11/89>
