- New York, January 25th, 1889, T.A Edison, Esq., of Orange N.J, Gentlemen:--The next semi-annual convention of the Association of Edison Electric Illuminating Companies will be held at kansas City, Mo., Tuesday, February 12th 1889. (The By-Laws having been charged at the last meeting, providing that the Convention shall convvene on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.)##The headquarters of the Convention will be at the new COATES HOUSE, where the Executive Committee have made satisfactory arrangements for the accomodation of the Association.##This Convention gives promise of being of more than usual interest and profit to all Edison Companies and it is therefore improtant that all should be represented.##The special Committtee on Fire Insurance have given very thorough attention to their duties, and will present a full and valuable report, with recommendations for the consideration of the Association.##The increased prosperity of Edison Illumination Companies, the growth of the meter system and other improvements and developments, will bring out valuable and interesting discussions.##Among the papers to be presented are the following:####The evening sessions of the opening day will be devoted to a Stereopticon talk by Mr. W.J Jenks, entitled "Nooks and Corners of Central Stations."##Other interesting and vlauable papers are promised##By Prof Wm. D. Marks on the Steam Engine.##By Messrs. Jackson, Wirt and Field, on new uses for the Electric Current from Central Stations.##By Mr. J.H Vail on Power supplied for railway purposes from Edison Central Stations.##By Mr. J.H Vail on Power supplied for railway purposes from Edison Central Stations.##The Executive Committee hereby extends an earnest and cordial initation to all old and new Companies not yet members of the Association to send one or more representatives to this meeting, with authority to enroll their Company as a member of the Association.##To those Companies already members a special request is made that they will each be represented by AT LEAST ONE member, and as many more as possible, thus giving encouragement by your presence to the entire Association, and at the same time imparting and acquiring valuable suggestions and information.##The Secretary will esteem it a particular favor if you will kindly advise him on the enclosed postal card how many representatives your Company will send, thus enabling him to notify the hotel in advance, so as to insure satisfactory accommodations, being reserved for all who may attend.
