- [This is an enclosure from the previous entry D8937AAC] ####(Copy) Mr. Chas J. Field####Gen'l Mgr E.E Ill Co.####26 & 28 Court St. Brooklyn N.Y####Dear Sir:--####In reply to yours of the 6th current, I would say that personally I am & always will be pleased to afford any assistance within my power, to the Engineers of the Edison Electric Light Cos. Your request for B.P has assumed suchc proportions that I fear that the directors of this Co would feel as if that for which they had paid a great deal, probably $10000 or more, exclusive of any own salary, was being diverted for the benefit of other corporations without any proper return to them. I would like to say, however that if it should appear to your Co. that a station modeled after ours, which promises to be most profitable is desired by them. I shall be pleased to make completely reworked drawings and furnish to your Co blue prints to the extent of 6 each, for the sum of $5000. This will be wholly a matter of the Philad Co. and not a personal one. It cannot but be an extremely economical way of procuring your drawing and will result in great coneniencce to yourself, since the trifling modifications required during erection of our completed station will all be introduced. The many and difficult problems which have presented themselves have absorbed much of my time & you will find it personally a great relief to be able to devote yourself exclusively to oversight of the erection, which will require not only your constant personal vigilance but also that of a couple of inspectors, & is above all things the most important.####Yours very truly (signed) Wm D Marks, Sup. Engr. & Genl Mgr.####[name mentions: Wm D Marks, Thos Edison, Paris Universal Exhibition, Cornelius J Field, Edison Electric Light Cos, Philadelphia Co]
