Title

[D8955ADA], Letter from New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad, N E Smith to Alfred Ord Tate, September 21st, 1889

Editor's Notes

Yours in reference to phonograph records recd.; no doubt I was presumptuous in asking you for records but I was not aware of how you were situated, and I am a comparative stranger to your people; thought you might have extra records at the lab that you had no use for, but you have a great demand for them in your regular business dealings with the N.A. Phonograph Co.; Mr. Bushnell of this city who I believe sang for you procured me one of the improved phonographs, but as yet I have only 2 or 3 of his records; you are kind to suggest getting some from TAE; they would be treasures, and I hope I could reciprocate one hundred fold; I shall try to add the phonoplex system anyhow; haven't been able to cure the gradual weakness in the phone, but shall set up a new solution when acid arrives and see if that is any better; will advise you.
