Title

[D8958ABB1], Letter from Canadian Edison Manufacturing Co, Henry M Francis to Alfred Ord Tate, December 11th, 1889

Editor's Notes

Encloses advertisement for a play at the Academy of Music in Montreal that mentions the phonograph will be used in the performance.###"As the Phonograph has been patented in the Canadas, I believe this bringing of the Phonograph into the Dominion might possibly affect the Patents; and as I know of no one else to send the information to I have presumed to send it to you, concluding that if it is necessary, you will give the information to the proper Parties.###What action has been taken looking toward our manufacture of the Phonograph? People are asking when the Phonograph will be ready for sale in Canada, and I tell them the matter has been "unavoidably delayed."###When I saw Insull in New York, he said TAE was completing a new type of Phonograph.###Inform me when the machine will be ready.###Mr. Barn on his return from New York said he had secured an interest in the talking doll, and expected the models very shortly, and that we should do the manufacturing of the doll at our Sherbrooke Works.###Once it gets out that Edison talking dolls are to be sold we shall undoubtedly be called on to furnish them at once.###If we are to manufacture them, could you send blueprints and other data that would help our general manager, Mr. Langton, prepare? [P.S. Pressing business with our president prevented me from visiting you when I was in New York last week. I wanted to see you and get a copy of TAE's photo and signature. Can you send me one for my office.] [New name mention: Mr. Barn]
