- Editor's Notes
- New York, April 10 1889####Mr Thomas A Edison####Dear Sir####In reply to your letter dated April 9th. I beg to say that the cabinets where made of seasoned wood, and delivered in good order. It stands to reason that Any fastened top will split, after such a hole is cut in center, as you in your tops. No matter how dry the wood is, after the grain is exposed in centre, and the top securely fastened that it cannot expand, it must split, and your cabinet makers should know this, Therefor it is not my fault that they split.####Yours very respectfully####Gustav Franke####per A----####[Note: Four and a half lines of shorthand on the bottom of the page]####[name mentions: Gustav Franke, Thos Edison]
