Oct. 3rd, 1892. T. R. Lombard, Esq., Victoria Hotel, Chicago, Ills. My dear Lombard, I got your letter of 28th ultimo in due season and was glad to hear from you. Andem addressed a letter to the North American Company, stating in very forcible terms that he would not sign the agreement as presented. I hope you will be able to induce him to come in. I have been unable to see Mr. Bush since you left, as he has not been in his office, but I am trying to make an appointment with him to-day. I will advise you fully what I do. How is the World’s Fair matter coming along? I hope you eill be able to confirm the information which you have about Easton. I was informed on Saturday last that the Graphophone people are going into the doll business. They have made an arrangement with J. W. Mackintosh, who is the President of the Edison Phonograph Toy Manufacturing Company of Boston, at least so Mackintosh informs me. I hope they will make more money out of it than we did. In regard to Class’s Nickel-in-the-Slot machine which was sent out here to the Works, it requires to be redesigned in order to put it on good shape for manufacture. It will cost about $150.00 to work it up. I have given instructions to have this immediately, because I wish to avoid delay, and I know how anxious you are to get these machines. Let me know if this is O. K. I will write you again after I have seen Bush. Yours very truly,
