[TAE Marginalia] Say that its out of my line to go into things on a financial basis. My own affairs would prevent me from doing. Anything is a technical way the theory is correct as I myself have tried a number of experiments in the same line + have filed contacts in the patent offices on the subject-E Received Oct 26 1892 Ans’d Oct 28 1892 Brooklyn N.Y. Oct 21 1892 A.W. Tate Esq Dear Sir I have your favor of 20th inst. It had been my hope upon an interview with Mr. Edison and after showing him the progress hitherto made by Dr. Mehner so far as obtaining the approval of men of note in this line, to obtain Mr. Edison’s cooperation in the exploration of this undertaking. The matter is being taken hold of by business men who stand ready to advance the comparatively small amount of money required to rest the motor on a practical basis (if it can be some at all) + upon bearing the details of Dr. M’s financial plans. Mr. Edison may deem it proper to participate. The value of the co operations of a man like Mr. Edison, as well as the satisfaction to him should the undertaking be successful, of having been one of its original promotors [?], are both very great, and it is that, that I wished to lay before him. I will thank you to let me know whether the matter would commence itself at all to Mr. Edison from this point of view. I do not find the name of Chas. E. Emery in the N.Y. City Directory + would be obliged to you if you would give me his address. Yours respectfully Louis B. Schram
