Letterhead: Eaton & Lewis New York April. 27, 1892 Thomas A. Edison, Esq., Orange, New Jersey. Dear Sir: We are about to bring suit upon Mr. Johnson’s patent for Gas Fixture Attachment for Electric Lamps. This is an old patent, of which Mr. Johnson assigned a half interest to Bergmann & Company some years ago. It is necessary to get the title of the patent in the name of the Edison General Electric Company, and I have drawn an Assignment of Bergmann & Company’ s half interest. I enclose such Assignment herewith. You are still President of Bergmann & Company, and I beg to ask that you will kindly sign your name as President at the end of this document, and hand it to the bearer. Very truly yours, [Signed Eaton, Sherburne Blake] General Counsel, E.G.E. Co.
