<Edison marginalia: I have investigated the [Cheever] property & while the Clover hill may be a better mill The ore I dont like & the freight position is bad I am afraid to tackle it TAE>

Dear Sir:

The mining concentrating [projects] known as Clover Hill situated at Croton Falls N.Y. 45 miles north of New York City on the Harlem RRd is owing to the death of the late Wm P. Shinn of Pittsburg now for sale – The mine is in a good state of development & the crushing & concentrating works were completed at a cost of about $110.000 – and tested to the great satisfaction of Wm Shinn just before his death. This property is doubless one of the largest deposits of Concentrating ore in southern New York & will be sold at much less than its value to close up the estate. I shall be pleased to have you send experts to examine the [projects] at any time. A superintendent is in charge who can give all desired information. The concentrate crushed to 1/8" mesh [came over] 66% [illegible] iron. We are prepared to name a price or entertain an offer.

Very truly,
H.E. Collins & Co
