Letterhead of Seligman & Seligman January 8, 1892, Thomas A. Edison, Esq., Dear Sir:- In behalf of Edison United Phonograph Company, its Secretary having left for the day, and the matter requiring haste, we enclose two proposed assignments of French Phonograph patents to be signed and acknowledged by you before a Notary who must affix his official seal, and who will also sign as a witness. The certificate of the Clerk of the County or Court to the Notary’s signature must also be affixed. We would ask you to kindly execute (and return to me) three papers at once as negotiations are pending in Paris which will be jeopardized by any delay in the transmission of these papers. Yours very truly, [Signed] Seligman & Seligman <Tell Johnny to have these signed tomorrow early and then taken to Major Eaton to approve before delivery. – E> [written in margins]
